Cost minimization for periodic maintenance policy of a system subject to slow degradation

چکیده
This paper considers a repairable system which undergoes preventive maintenance (PM) periodically and is minimally repaired at each failure. Mostpreventivemaintenancemodelsassumethat thesystemimprovesateachPMsothat thehazardrate isreducedtothatofanewsystemortosome specified level. In this paper, we consider the situation where each PM relieves stress temporarily and hence slows the rate of system degradation, whilethehazardrateof thesystemremainsmonotonicallyincreasing.Theoptimalnumberandperiodfor theperiodicPMthatminimizetheexpected cost rate per unit time over an infinite time span are obtained. We also consider the case when the minimal repair cost varies with time. Explicit solutions for the optimal periodic PM are given for the Weibull distribution case. q 2000 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.

Optimal overhaul–replacement policy for a multi-degraded repairable system sold with warranty
In this research, we study an optimal overhaul–replacement policy of a multi-degraded repairable system sold with a free replacement warranty. In the proposed replacement policy, a maintenance action and failure are dependent on a system degradation level and the system age, and hence the replacement model will provide more effective maintenance decisions. Failure of the system is modeled using...
متن کاملMaintenance Cost Analysis for Replacement Model with Perfect Minimal Repair
With the evolution of technology, the maintenance of sophisticated systems is of concern for system engineers and system designers. The maintenance cost of the system depends in general on the replacement and repair policies. The system replacement may be in a strictly periodic fashion or on a random basis depending upon the maintenance policy. At failure, the repair of the system may be perfor...
متن کاملCondition Based Maintenance for Two-Component Systems with Reliability and Cost Considerations
This paper studies a maintenance policy for a system composed of two components, which are subject to continuous deterioration and consequently stochastic failure. The failure of each component results in the failure of the system. The components are inspected periodically and their deterioration degrees are monitored. The components can be maintained using different maintenance actions (repair...
متن کاملA Multi-Periodic Multi-Product Inventory Control Problem with Discount: GA Optimization Algorithm
In this article, a finite horizon, multi product and multi period economic order quantity like seasonal items is considered where demand rate is deterministic and known but variable in each period. The order quantities of items come in batch sizes and the end of the period order quantity and, consequently, demand of customers are zero. In addition, storage space is constrained and the problem...
متن کاملThe optimal age-based replacement policy for systems subject to shocks
In this article, two different systems subject to shocks occurring based on a non-homogeneous Poisson process (NHPP) are analyzed. Type –I system is consisted of a single unit and type –II system is consisted of two parallel units in which both units operate identically and simultaneously. In type –I system occurrence of a shock causes system stopping and consequently will be received minimal r...
